Connected by COAST is an exciting capital campaign to fund our new 48,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility designed for the future of COAST.
After raising $14.1M of the $19.5M campaign goal,
we are now in the public phase of the campaign! We hope you will join us.

COAST’s current facility in Dover, NH is insufficiently sized for the operation and has reached the end of its lifespan.
The new facility will support our robust transportation system by providing essential functions lacking in our current facility.
Current Facility
Future Facility
The new structure includes meeting and training spaces, expanded maintenance bays, and secure indoor storage for COAST’s vehicle fleet. It will also include dedicated administration space within the building, eliminating the need for our current off-site office rental.
The improvements provided by the new facility will translate directly into better service, and greater efficiency and reliability.
The Impact
The mission-critical improvements in the new facility will result in:
Safer, affordable, and efficient operation for our passengers
Improved on-site customer experience
Increased safety on-site for staff
Reduced ongoing operating costs (>$70K saved annually)
Extended useful life of our fleet and reduced weather related maintenance
Reduced environmental impact through lower fuel consumption and reduced vehicle idle times, (vehicle idling in winter will be reduced by approx. 1,500 hrs. annually)
Lower carbon footprint through incorporation of current energy efficient building standards, including a solar array sufficient to offset the electrical demand of the facility
Foundation for the potential future transition to a hybrid or fully electrified transit fleet in the future
When it snows, drivers arrive to work hours before their shift to clean off the vehicles.
The new facility will provide critical indoor storage for our fleet, eliminating the need for manual snow removal.
COAST’s public transit network offers a reliable and affordable alternative to driving and maintaining a personal vehicle.
The towns and cities connected by COAST’s public transit system are also economically, socially, and environmentally linked. Affordable housing, employment, social supports, and medical services are dispersed broadly across the Seacoast region, requiring travel between communities.
COAST is a common thread that offers everyone an affordable, reliable connection to the opportunities and services they need to succeed and thrive.
Funding
The project is being funded through a combination of public and private investments. COAST has secured $13.8 million in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) capital grants, and is pursuing additional FTA capital grant funding. The ability to spend these FTA grant funds is contingent on raising $3.4 million in matching funds. Those matching dollars have, and will, come from private foundations, businesses, and individual supporters.
Every private dollar raised unlocks $4.74 in federal funding, turning community support into a transformative investment in mobility, connection, and opportunity.
